I applied for my current FAC in December 1988 and received it five months later in May 1989. It never occurred to me to keep enquiring when it would appear because that was the timescale even then. I was told six months ( Cumbria ) for my renewal due to Covid etc etc, but it was taking six months or similar before the pandemic, so who knows?
