lurcherboy
Bottom line is from his point of view and whoever he complains to is you have a dangerous dog. It bit someone. LB
myuserid
First point - It depends on how bad the kids injury is and if they decide to complain. The second point is what was your dog doing on their land and why did the two dogs come into contact in the first place. Third point - were the dogs in the middle of a flight when he intervened or was he pulling them away then got bit? Your dog could be classed as a danger and could possibly be destroyed depending on the circumstances. If the injury is just a surface one then you should be ok. al4x
You need to be as diplomatic and apologetic as possible and cross your fingers. Drop a bottle round and be as concerned as possible. We all know you don't put your hands in with fighting dogs as that is exactly how you get bitten. But in the eye of the law your dog has bitten someone and so could be classed as dangerous.
OldBill
Don't be afraid to eat lots of humble pie, after all you'll be getting what you want. Bottom line is tho, officially the dog is classed as being "dangerously out of control". The dog COULD be put down and you COULD be fined / kept from keeping dogs BUT that is quite unlikely in the long run. We have a little saying, Let them say what they like, but do what you want However, if he were to hold it over me and try to bully me I'd tell him to go jump and deny everything if the old bill came. No witnesses- no prosecution.
