Whats 10a, if you mean £10 he is just jumping on the Khan Woke bandwagon.  Not sure why we need any mayors or devolved Parliaments, they are all a total and utter waste of money adding needless bureaucracy and Political point scoring at the Taxpayers expense.

Nah, they have just made a few major roads busses and taxis only. That's how Bristol work... They want to close roads to make them pedestrian only yet there are very few other routes to where these roads go

What will the money be used for? Cleaner air - do me a favour. The lightweight Burnham couldn't wait to increase revenue, without a care as to the cost to the average person.

In five, ten years time, the air will be just the same, but you won't get a refund.

Exactly this, just like every other clean air tax by every other council in the country. It’s all about revenue.

Mr Burnham has brought a clean air charge

Great if we lived on a planet that did not spin had little or no gravitational force to cause pressure and winds…………… Do they not realise that the wind might blow unclean air into their pure air environment? REALLY did we not suffer acid rain from North American industrial processes?  Did the Scandinavians suffer from ours?

nice try maybe these politicians should ask the major polluters and see we reply they get!
Not saying something needs to be done but if they think they are helping disabled people to breath more easily, have they not considered where they  can park as public transport is not always suitable or close enough  for them.

If we boycott the cities which charge with any luck they will become ghost towns

Yes another nail in the coffin of city centre shops creating more unemployment unless new  shopping centres are built on green belt land ……..but that would  mean no more shooting perms! As the people who went to the city centres are now going to out of town to the generic shops and they want to  see fluffy furry animals running wild in the car parks feeding on the remains of their fast food generic store bought lunch or dinner EXCELLENT EXCELLENT no more shooting permissions no more guns!!! goodbye to a way of live and the end to ALL PROBLEMS.
I bet this is some psychologists plan from some nudge department.
I certainly do not wish to criticise London Best as we are all shooters who enjoy our sport in our individual ways.

New Years Eve showed that people are willing to travel long distances from where pubs and clubs are closed , as in Scotland to England where they remained open. So charging in a city will make people go elsewhere causing more pollution and congestion.
I do not have any answers but whatever is done there is always people loosing out. I feel very sorry for these people:

https://www.thesun.co.uk/motors/16796893/couple-furious-forced-pay-driveway-londons-emission-zone/

there will always be people who loose out and yes it is another stealth tax which motorists have to pay because we know whilst industrial countries around the world continually pump out pollution we are nailing jelly to the wall.

When the wind blows? Is it hot cold wet or dry or does it contain particulates and acid rain  but it still blows.

just climbing down from this soap box !!

My OH's cousin runs a coach firm based in Middlesex.  Transport firms whose vehicles have to go in to the city are currently circumventing the system using the "number plate game" as it is described to me.  Every month they re-register their vehicles with a different number plate, at a cost of just over £100, which apparently means the DVLA system doesn't catch up with them.  The fine for entering the ULEZ with a non-compliant vehicle is almost as much as the cost of changing number plates so they are dodging a lot of bullets for the cost of the re-registering, considering they may travel in to the city multiple times a week.  DVLA are obviously going to get wind of it and close the loophole soon but at the moment it's saving a lot of transport firms from going bust having to invest in compliant vehicles.

The mad thing is the emissions laws don't apply to marine craft... think of all the diesel fumes being splurged out on the Thames.

That unfortunately won’t work in Greater Manchester as it covers every borough in Greater Manchester which is 493 sq miles. As soon as as I walk out of my door and I live in village I have to pay unless I  buy a euro 6 compliant vehicle.

We even voted against having a mayor and a congestion charge but apparently democracy only works when it gives the answer they want in greater Manchester as I now have a  mayor  and congestion charge by another name.

Same here....simples...just don't go and shop there, visit there etc etc.

In the 60s a day out was a run down the M1 into London visit a few places , do a bit fo shopping and then do a show at a theatre before driving home.

They turned the place into a ####hole and I wouldn't go there if you paid me.

The problem is the Manchester zone covers 500 sq miles and I live in it.   The Toyota hiace van I have had for 15 yrs will soon cost me £300 a month for the pleasure of leaving my drive ..it’s madness

It's all a scheme IMHO to price the poor off the roads so that the wealthy can tootle along in their new limousines and etc.. Oh...and footballers in their sports SUV vehicles. And everyone else can take the bus. And Burnham likes to thinks he's a socialist? Yeah! He's merely an enabler for the wealthy to enjoy sole access to the roads that we all have actually paid for but now can't afford to drive on.

I feel for you. Sadly this is what happens when the population is duped into voting to install another layer of bureaucracy under the guise of democracy? Just gives another opportunity to be fleeced?

Simples! and the majority trying hard not to work aren't affected and those involved get richer?
