chrisjpainter
Firstly. If his medical exemption is in order and it's for genuine reasons, then he should be allowed to play, as medical exemptions do exist and are for legitimate conditions. HOWEVER. I would love to know what medical condition the fittest sportsman on the planet has that stops him getting a vaccine because it must be something pretty extraordinary to not let him have a jab, but still allows him to go 5 hours at full tilt with Federer or Nadal on the other end of the court! If he gets booted out because he's found to have played fast and loose with the rules, I'd find it hilarious. He's always thought he only gets grudging respect but not what he really craves. Federer gets it. Nadal gets it. Even Murray gets it. In short, he's just a just a boy standing in front of a crowd asking it to love him...But it never seems to happen Bless. Time for Novax Djokovic to start booking plane tickets

I respect his choice not to have the vaccine, but as Nadal said, ‘ there are consequences’. Agree entirely.

It must be a doozy, but if he had anything legitimate then he would have produced it straight away. I can only say we'll Done Australia, imagine if our country had rules they actually enforced. ShootingEgg
This isn't the last we will hear of this kind of thing. Alot of the top footballers are saying no to the vaccine as they have no idea what it may do to them and they are currently playing at the top of their careers etc. Knowing that having the Vax doesn't stop you getting it, then I don't really get the Australians stance on this. It is his choice not to have it. And he should just have to test clear to be allowed to compete.

Scully
In Germany, professional footballers are being told they won’t be paid if they can’t play due to covid, which probably won’t effect their bank balance.
chrisjpainter
One's a gonner! Czech tennis player Renata Voracova (ummm....who?) Has had her exemption dumped and is flying home. JohnfromUK
I have read (not sure where now) that his "exemption" is based on him having had full Covid recently/in the last (6 ?) months. This is not regarded by the Australian authorities as grounds for an exemption apparently.

Anyhow, as we know, having it is no guarantee you won’t have it again, nor pass it on.

WalkedUp
Farage sounded very weird on Any Questions when asked about this, having so much sympathy for an illegal immigrant. “But they took his phone, it sounds they are treating him as bad as prison”. Please listen to it as you will see Farage in a new light. Slightly appalled. He defends individuals’ “freedom of choice”. I.e. Freedom of movement. He must be a big tennis fan if he’s prepared to 180° on his belief in immigration control. Djokovic should be sent to the island with everyone else who arrives by boat. We need to get our own island and start doing the same. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nauru_Regional_Processing_Centre

Djokovic is there 'on business' (as a professional tennis player taking part in a competition) not trying to emigrate there. But under Covid rules all visitors to Australia have to have had double vax (or have medical exemption of an approved type). He has neither, and so has been placed in a quarantine facility until it is resolved (by which Australia seems to mean leaves Australia). At least - that is how I understand it. Stonepark
It appears more are being investigated..... Novak, had a visa and had approval but someone changed te rules or interpretation of the rules when he was in mid flight, not his fault if they said Yes then changed their minds and said No, but the clincher will be is that there are others that are already in country. Two sides of the same coin for me. Lots of these boys are coming here “on business” too. One rule for all. But I don’t believe compulsory vaccination is right. You can't seriously suggest that all people visiting Australia on business should go through an island immigration centre? 3 minutes ago, WalkedUp said: But I don’t believe compulsory vaccination is right. Australia doesn't have compulsory vaccinations. It just requires visitors to be vaccinated.
