Andilicious
Hi chaps I’ve just picked one of these up to have a play with and I’ve noticed the forend seems to have a little play in it as I close the action. Can this be fixed? Is it something I can do? Is it normal? Having never shot a side by side I don’t know anything about them so thought I would reach out to you guys. enfieldspares
I think for some reason or other that all AYA Yeoman of a certain age seem to have this. You never see it on an No4 just on the Yeoman from my experience. Edited January 15, 2022 by enfieldspares
oldypigeonpopper
Hello, I cannot remember my yeoman having that so must be just wear and tear, should be an easy fix,
Scully
As long as there’s no play with the fore end removed, I wouldn’t worry too much.
enfieldspares
⬆️ That, just now, from SCULLY +1. But if you want to fix it remove the wood and then peen the front of the slot that goes over the forend loop. But be aware it'll only last as a "fix it" long as feels like it wants to! LOL! There’s no play at all in the action, just the forend wood as it opens and closes.

Gunman
There are a couple of ways that any gunsmith can do for you quickly . It can depend on if it has been tightened before or not as to which . Loose forends can lead to loose actions , ejection and cocking problems . I had to fix an old Webley 700 that did that. The cause was that on the Webley 700 there were two holes cut into the rear of the forend wood that fitted over two metal studs on the rear of the forend iron. These holes had worn. The answer was to plug then (gluing in the plugs) and then recutting the two holes. It solved the matter.
