walshie Posted February 8, 2022 Report Share Posted February 8, 2022 Our dog was really licking her legs and chest the other night. On closer inspection there were lots of little bumps under the fur. Probably 20-30 on her chest, about 10 on the top of each front leg and same again on her back legs. It was driving her nuts so off to the vet who said it was an allergic reaction and prescribed antihistamines and some cream that sorted the problem. Now she has a bald spot where each bump scabbed and fell off. The fur is growing back already, but now we can see all the reactions were on her chest and at the front of her legs and all were on the top part of the leg and not the bottom. This would suggest some sort of plant that she ran through that was over a foot tall but less than head height as she had none on her neck or head. Maybe the wrong time of year for that though As you say not much around this time of year. Nettles don't normally penetrate her coat. I'm wondering if it was some kind of spray or weedkiller. I say this because as evergreen and with needles - at this time of year they are still there whereas many other plants are dormant. I have had rash from Juniper on my hands after contact.
