muncher
I’m considering one for plucking my pigeons, has anyone got any recommendations please.
mgsontour
I've seen DIY ones do a decent job on ducks (pigeons tear a lot easier), wouldn't know how to make one but an old poacher ( sorry, typo, I meant retired gamekeeper ) will be best bet to ask
Gas seal
Hi muncher l use a solway dry plucking machine. It’s good for game birds and pigeons. I’ve used it for Canada geese, l use a bungee cord tied to the garage rafters to take the weight of the goose. It’s not made for geese but it did them ok . I replaced a couple of rollers that push the disks together a few years ago. Any dry plucker should do pigeons. I once made a wiz bang plucker out of a plastic drum. I would put a Canada goose in hot water and then drop it in the wiz bang it was like putting it in the washing machine. The wet feathers would spin out the bottom and fall around the machine ,the heavy bird would bounce around inside. After doing a few geese the feathers would build up and smell like a wet dog by a fire. It took a bit of cleaning with the feathers and down sticking to the fingers. I would go for a dry plucker it’s quick and the feathers are sucked into a sack. Be careful of the dust from the feathers it’s not good, l was told this when I kept racing pigeons . The old man who told me had a fag in his mouth as he warned me.
