That is "Plain Jane" - once mine and a rather special old gun. It came from a chap on the Solway, who shot a fair few geese with it. I last met him at the Caerlaverock anniversary do, in 2016. He was terminally ill then and has probably passed by now.

In the hands of myself and friends it has killed geese on the Wash (both sides of the Ouse) and on Wells, while some young lads have killed crazy high pigeons using black powder. It was used to pattern test some of the first ITM loads.

In recent years it went to the Humber, Morecambe Bay I think, and then once again to the Wash and Solway in the hands of two more owners.

I have owned three double eights and I would pass them all up for this lovely old girl if I could still wield a big gun as I once did. I hope she goes to a good home !

What a lovely piece of history on Plain Jane , no doubt an elegant young lady when she first set foot on the salt marshes and below the sea wall.

Hopefully she will be cherished once again and pull those sky gypsies out of the clouds for many seasons to come .
