Only thing to be aware of is that Royal mail 48hrs which is what your supposed to use for posting a rifle only Covers you for £100 if anything goes missing. 

I realise you might be no where near an Rfd, but rfd transfer might be your best bet, or at least safest.

I’ve never really found an answer to this. But I have received air rifles by post, from England to Scotland, and sent an air rifle the other direction, with no issues. Both declared as such with the Royal Mail 48 hr service, which is the only way to send them.
