samboy
Hi gang. I know a chap who is on his 2nd sgc but has not owned a shotgun from day one. I'm surprised he got his 2nd sgc. I thought you had to have a good reason or belong to a club to be granted one as you do a FAC. Or have i got it wrong ?. Any thoughts on this ?. Thanks all. Lloyd90
Some ground will only accept SGC holders. Therefore you can go along with friends and shoot their gun etc, as long as you have a SGC. I imagine they can also lend club / ground guns, or lend a gun from someone else for up to 72 hours without having to put it on their ticket. All good reasons to have a SGC without the need to actually buy a gun.
Scully
You only need ‘good reason’ for S1 firearms.

The police must show good reason why you should NOT have one.
Shadowchaser
I know someone who is on about his fifth SGC and has only recently bought his first ever shotgun. In the past he's just used someone else's.

Whilst the police will always ask you why you want a shotgun for an SGC, it's not actually a requirement on your part to demonstrate good reason for owning one, as with an FAC
