rsrjerry
Do like a blast from the past, got a load of gear off a chap who is packing in his shotgun certificate. And found these in the big box of cartridges along with some other interesting cartridges. Edited April 24, 2022 by rsrjerry

wisdom
Used to use them in the 80's flames shot out of the muzzle as confetti rained down. Kicked like a mule but killed what they hit and smoked clays.Cheap to buy too
Minky
BOOM,,,,Boom, BOOM. !!!!! Especially the black ones. Magnum loaded with spare powder from anti aircraft shells. 40 thousand foot high pigeon on oxygen are not safe to these shells. BUT they don't half work an auto. Especially my mates long recoil Franchi Hunter 5 shot auto.
the hitman
Fond memories of shooting Baikal cartridges back in the 80’s . I remember decoying pigeons over Winter rape, when a small skein of geese came over the top my hide at about 40yrds up- it shot the tail end bird stone dead with a black no7. It was my first ever goose - and I can still see it fall in my mind’s eye.

enfieldspares
Some clay grounds in Leicestershire specifically banned the using of Baikal Record cartridges!

Not just Leicestershire, many were warned by Councils that Eastern European cartridges would lead to their 28 day licences to be removed. I think we can safely say that the shot sizes were variable to say the least … multi-purpose!! Interesting if the OP would open one up to see the potential variations! Interesting if the OP would open one up to see the potential variations! I was given some 34 or 36 gramme black records years ago and carried a few to use when getting a no bird at competitions. Had to repeat a rabbit pair and put a black unknown in the bottom barrel. I had shot 4 pairs when I had to repeat. Called the pair, shot the first one at about 15 yds and it just disappeared! The second target I shot with a normal cartridge, broke it and finished the stand, only to be asked by the Ref, "what the **** was that?" We cut one open and were amazed to find about an ounce and a half of everything from floor sweepings to 3s! What a shell!
Agriv8
And they were red ! I still have a few I think - flames were definitely an addition! thanks Agriv8
Gordon R
Used a few thousand in the 1980s. Floodlit skeet was fun - a lot of flames. That said, I used their skeet shells on some really distant clays to good effect.
grahamch
Used to use them on the shore but the muzzle flame made them no good for wigeon under the moon. 1 shot and you were blinded!
steve_b_wales
My first ever go at firing a 12g shotgun was a Baikal single barrel with Record #4 cartridges. It kicked like a mule but thankfully never put me off. I used many 100's of Baikal cartridges over the years and still have a few left. Lever357
A friend of mine bought some of these from a gunshop last year. Got me a few boxes, too, £3 each and they are in as new condition.
