Called the wife this morning to get “there has just been a parrot on the feeder”. I said oh sheet - that’ll be a Parakeet then

nah- it’s too big (as she was thinking about ones we had in Cyprus)

well, it has just been back - sorry about the picture

Over 30 years ago I had a friend living South London who regularly went shooting these in orcahrds in Kent.  He said then that eventually they would spread north.

Big problem is they have a breeding ground now I understand in all the Royal Parks and we know what effort they make to control tree rats don't we.

I am told by a reliable source that they are quite tasty, but there`s not a lot of meat on them. As in other parts of the country, there are plenty around here in Kent and flocks of 20 or more seen regularly in the Thanet area.

Probably the most common garden bird round north London these days.

They were popular pets  to be kept in outdoor aviaries at one time when such things were fashionable.  Thats because they were Hardy enough to survive the British winter. 

They drive out the other birds
