Finishing buffaloe horn

Recommended Posts

To be honest be a lot of answers, after final shaping, usually scrape with a new stanly blade , sand to 240 , then wet & dry through to 1200 , put it on a mop with a bit of polishing soap , shows up all the faults , start again, till happy, found autoglym car polish on the mop & cherry blossom black works well to get a good shine....

Just completed a buffaloe horn crook and want to polish up the horn. Although it will be a working stick it would be great to get a good finish. I will finish with 0000 wire wool but is there a polish or oil I should use with it?

I've used Brasso in the past, try to make sure to go in one direction with the wire wool and dont use to much pressure ,just rub lightly.
