Someone may have already tried this but here goes.  Wife planned making a couple of treacle tarts to but no normal white bread to make crumbs.  I had made some fruit bread with orange essence added and suggest some crumbs from that.  Short story, awesome. Best treacle tart I have ever tasted.

Bread recipe..  1  cup white 2 cups of brown flour  over 1 1/2 cups of milk.  Tablespoon of brown sugar  1 1/2 teaspoons of salt   a dash of orange essence(let your hand shake) 1 1/2 teaspoons of yeast. After the first mix add mixed dried fruit a good handful (2 cup fulls at leat.  I cook on sweet setting and I like a good crust so 'dark'.

A slice with a good layer of butter and your choice of preserve/jam takes some beating.

BUT the crumbs made from it are superb in a treacle tart.
