Last Saturday while out shooting Wood Pigeons in the Fens, my gun stopped working!

Gave up and headed home.

Finally got a day with a couple of quiet hours to start looking for the problem.

Got three quarters of the way in and got absolutely stumped.

Phoned Impala59 for help and we worked out what may be wrong.

To get to the breech block and the firing pin within, I needed to disconnect the action bar that connects to the foregrip.

But I just couldn't get the waisted pin to retract and allow me to dislocate the pieces.

Impala59 had had the same problem on an old 16 bore some years ago and had taken a month to work it all out.

Thankfully telling me this saved me that month!

I tapped the body of the gun with my little nylon faced hammer and as if by magic on the fourth tap it released.

Yes I had a broken link pin as well as a broken firing pin.

This access allowed me to get to the breech block, drive out the locking pin and release the wasted firing pin.

only to find 19mm of it was missing!

Good old PW and its knowledgeable Members.

The waisted firing pin in the centre without the necessary 19mm front piece.

And bottom right, the detached head of the link pin.
