you see there fun doesn’t create a huge carbon footprint for the enjoyment of those who attend the creates tons of pollution and waste and takes the land a year to recover.

yet preaching that we are the anti crist for participating in our activities which in most cases have a posative impact on nature !

This, along with the post of Island gun is the most annoying aspect of all this; the sheer hypocrisy!
Packham makes a significant income by shipping himself and countless others to various parts of the world so he can talk at them while pointing at animals; Attenborough must have created the biggest carbon footprint of any individual in the world, and is still doing it. Paul Mc Cartney has flown over to be at Glastonbury, plus countless others. Elton John was in Newcastle the other night as part of his world tour. It’s not just the individuals above, each takes with them an entourage of dozens of people and all their paraphernalia.
Look at the vast circus that is F1, and later this year the World Cup; Wimbledon and all the other grand slam tournaments.
The golf tournaments and the cricket tours.
I don’t mind at all, but I do mind them then preaching at the rest of us about what they reckon we’re doing to the planet.

More than likely, it must bring more money in to the farm  than milking cows

They have a 3 day concert in July on a farm in the village I grew up in, but a lot of money is raised for charity , have known the family since I was 12 , use to let me go shooting when I was 15 ,

I have to agree with all your comments, it appears to me that there's people who need to be led and managed (plebs) and those who are able to make infomed and rational decisions for themselves and it seems there are more of the Latter, hope this makes sense 🤔

And all for the sake of people who seemingly don't work having a bit of leisure.

I see all who fly to foreign lands for unnecessary holiday frolics as being almost as bad in regard to carbon footprints that are simply not needed - aircraft manufacture and travel is one of the biggest polluters of modern times.

My what a lot of bile directed towards people having fun.  Yes, those there professing to care about the planet need to take a long hard look at themselves and see the bigger picture, but should (unthinking) hypocrisy really mean we should ban fun?

Don’t get me wrong, I geddit, the venn diagram overlap of people on PW and people who find large music festivals appealing is likely vanishingly small to non-existent.  I'd rather stick pins in my eyes personally.

As for preachy artists and ‘slebs, they have long since made it clear that they treat environmental issues as “do as I say, not as I do”, and can thus can be ignored.  I would suggest ire for that particular brand of hypocrisy be reserved for officials, both of the elected and unelected variety.

I am not saying people can’t have fun I have No problem if you want to **** in a eco toilet and camp next to others in an  un-washed state.

My point is that like champagne quaffing socialist there is an idea that everyone else is killing the planet.  but them driving there 60k vw camper van with Tarquin and tigger Lilly to Glastonbury means they are allowed to preach to us about heather management on shooting estates ! or the damage of lead shot to the environment .

Taking this back to the op the irony of trying to whitewash glasto as an eco event is only compounded by the paying of mr Peckham to attend as a speaker.

Up to two hundred thousand people due to attend let us see if he says about the damage  to wildlife that will cause.

Loss of hunting grounds for hunting birds. Rabbits and foxes forced of the land I think he should speak about that  damage first.

Old deers forced of there land by  C Packham and crowd

🙂

Amongst one of my many debates with LACS members, was one who objected to all the flora and fauna we disturbed and destroyed whilst beating and shooting.
She was very concerned about the wildlife, including invertebrates, that we upset during the days shooting.
You couldn’t make it up really.

I mean, only if you let them...

The farming social media community have found a good response to the Tarquins of this world when they come at them with "you should be rewilding" "you should only be growing crops for food", which is "why?".  As soon as you ask that question, it's clear it becomes an unthinking belief, rather than a thought-through position.  The brighter ones even realise that themselves.

He's there as a speaker on a discussion on 'neurodiversity' per the programme above.  Though, am sure he'll get in the odd  misinformed conservation-related barb in.

Really I find the obsession people have with Packham on this forum quite odd.  He's already professed that, due to his, ummm, neurodiversity, he can't engage in debates with the other side.

I suggest we stick to complaining to the BBC when he makes a factual error, of which there will be many.  One day the BBC *might* get it.  Though, given they're seemingly happy with Gary Linekar claiming he's black, Packham will really have to up his levels of self-delusion before management will take an interest.

I saw this somewhere, regarding Lineker claiming he’s was ill tret as a kid due to his dark skin. I could say the same!
Stopped at EVERY port of embarkation EVERYWHERE I have travelled! Surrounded by armed police at Manchester on one ocassion for straying into the queue of another flight!
Bags searched everywhere I go.
The only person out of a hydrofoil of 250 passengers stopped on my way into Venice where the Italian rozzers made me empty all my gear onto a table including EVERY packet of cigarettes I’d just bought at duty free on the boat!
The only person on a ship of over 500 passengers to be called back onto the boat and detained for an hour while trying to disembark at Port Said, while they all sat and talked to me in a foreign language! I’m assuming they were expecting me to crack but I didn’t …….cos I didn’t have a clue what they were talking about! 😂

The list goes on, as does the discrimination! Is it cos I isn’t black but looks like I should be? 😀

Where can I put my claim in?
