Bit of a heads up - 20 bore sideplated McNab Highlander

For anyone interested, there is a 20 bore sideplated McNab Highlander in the Holts sealed bid auction lot No.5194 with an estimate of £250-£350 !!

These were made by B.Rizzini (the best of the Rizzini clan) and normally sell in the region of £1000-£1500. I realise that the catalogue only states an estimate and 20% +VAT has to be added to the hammer price, but it could still be a bargain for someone at the right price.

If I didn`t already have one, I`d be sorely tempted to bid.

That’s the one. There’s only one  sideplated one for sale on Guntrader and that’s £1650, although that is at Chris Potter’s.

A friend has one in 28 bore.
Even as a dedicated SxS man, I have to say it is beautiful to use and at 5lbs. 14ozs it handles just like an English 16.

I’ve shot with SxSs all my life but I can honestly say that my 20 bore Highlander is an absolute joy to shoot.

Go on then how much did it make?? Is there any way of checking?

I think that they list the realised prices a few days after the auction which was yesterday, so I`m also keen to know what it went for.

I`ve just been informed by a PW member that the hammer price was £600, which made the total price including commission and VAT of £744.00 if I`ve done my sums correctly. Still a good price.

Unfortunately the PW member was not successful.
