Have the usual green algae on the fence. Any solutions I can use with a stiff brush to remove before I repaint it? Pressure washer is not an option.

Creosote (proper creosote) and tell the neighbours it's the substitute stuff JMHO

Slightly diluted bleach in a spray bottle, works a treat,i believe the green algae is caused by lack of sunlight (?),i live in Scotland, bleaching my sheds & fences is an almost daily chore! 🤬

Same as above, cheapest bleach from one of two cheapest supermarkets that are giving the mainstream ones a run for their money, diluted 50/50 0nce a year in 7ltr garden pressure sprayer, all fence panels along with pavings down the side of the house that don't get sunshine, two days later and like new, no need for fancy expensive stuff.

Be aware and cautious around any greenery and do it on a windless day

Do the same on block paving drive to fettle weeds and moss but more often to keep them in check.
