None in particular. They all ‘drop’ open when you open them, but that’s normal, check the pins aren’t pitted, but as long as the top lever isn’t pointing left when it’s closed, and it locks up tight, I can’t think of anything worth looking for out of the usual.
I’ve owned many 101’s, ( still own three )  including two DG’s,  and they’re very good guns.
How much are they asking?

I'd advise checking and double checking for fit. I find them low at the comb and can't shoot them very well as I like my line of sight above the rib. Also, IIRC, the ejectors seem to be a bit more prone to breakage than guns of similar vintage like Mirokus.

But at £395... Can't go far wrong.

Very good price if it’s in good nick.
Ask if it comes with any Winchokes.

Before I got seriously into driven game, I used mine for bolting bunnies and bought a pair of Teague extended chokes and put HP steel through it on ducks. 🙂 Have fun. Let us know if you decide to get it.

If in good condition as Scully explains a very good gun at the right price. I have had a couple but as a lefty couldn’t quite get the stock right.

Interesting how did you find the fit with it I'm also a lefty & have often looked at winchester 101s due to the reputation & popularity been looking at the 20gauge models

Haven't handled the sporter at Bamfords, but have handled the Diamond grade trap. No play in the action and a steal at £395. Half the price of similar guns. I was tempted to buy both the trap and sporter. I don't need them, but they are on sale at silly money.

That's the one.

I could shoot it but not as well without a little left cast and a spacer on the stock. Had the last one cast left, straight hand stock, but it just wouldn’t hold so I let a young lad on the shoot have it and he shot brilliantly with it off his right. It was a long time ago but now I have factory made left hand stocks on my Guerini, and Benelli, and my Dickson has been fitted to me. I also have a Robson side lock with massive left hand cast. They all just come straight to the eye

if Found a good one that was really straight, or left, I would probably buy it!

Just had a look on their website. I’d be having that trap model without a doubt! What a beaut’! That is the most tempting DG I’ve seen for some time; they’re obviously still out there.
Chorley isn’t that far from me at all and I’m off tomorrow, and I already have an extra full Winchoke for that bottom barrel.
Get it bought sharpish.

wisdom / Scully - sorry. My eye for a bargain got the better of me. Photo is upside down - can't correct.
