Using my spare time

My daughter in law owns a couple of children's nurseries and wanted to build a boat based "shipwreck island" for the kids. Boat installed, with rocks to surround it. Anchor, treasure chest, ship's wheel and lobster pot already sourced. My lad and I have been building a roped walkway so the kids can enter the boat via the rear and well away from any rocks. The whole area is in the process of being fenced off. Just got to build a beach hut from old pallets and a pallet background behind the boat - which will have a beach, sky and palm trees painted on by a mate.

The fencing isn't up to Team tractors lofty standards, but is coming on okay. A few days work left in it.

Fence done, nearly finished the hut - one side to do and something else at the front - possibly a bench. Pallet breaking tool, which I made, was half decent. Breakage rate of about 10%. The hut is almost all pallet bits and leftovers from the fencing. The rubbish hammer is my lad's. He has appropriated two Estwings of mine and this was the best he could come up with. Embarrassed by his junk hammer, I refuse to throw another decent one at him - only to be lost. Just got to do a large background behind the boat, which a mate is painting.

Daughter in law has tasked me with finding an oak barrel and a lifebuoy.

Not fixed yet - that will be done when all bits are sourced. Daughter in law wants an old Romany type caravan building next.

😂 Wow you better start gathering some stuff and hope she does not expand the business anytime soon.

I have a different view of the nurseries than my daughter in law. She throws money at the play areas  - too much in my opinion. Her approach is reflected in outstanding OFSTED reports, who highlight the indoor and outdoor facilities. She treats this like a school, educating pre-school kids, rather than just a place where parents dump their kids, whilst they go to work. It's an adventure playground, with facilities inside for when it rains.

That is why I would never run the business.
