They seem to be well equipped when it comes to the tech side of things. @Conor O'Gorman Will basc be talking with any media sources to try and make it clear the benefits of game shooting, the active management of predators that allow red listed species the chance to recover etc We have been contacting the national and regional media with information. Some have contacted us and other organisations for quotes. Whilst good to get balanced comment in the media about game shooting what will really give us a fighting chance is a massive response from individuals from across the UK and beyond to the consultation. Its day 3 of a 12-week campaign so plenty of time to rally the troops and it would be good to see some more PW members posting on this thread confirming they have completed the survey. For anyone reading about this for the first time please visit the BASC Act Now campaign page to find out more and complete a two minute survey that will feed into the consultation. https://basc.org.uk/actnow/ Media coverage about the proposals so far as follows: BBC websitehttps://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-65091100 The Telegraphhttps://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2023/03/28/fears-welsh-bird-licensing-scheme-would-lead-shooting-ban/ The Spectatorhttps://www.spectator.co.uk/article/now-drakefords-bureaucrats-turn-their-guns-on-shooting/ BBC Radio 4 - Farming Todayhttps://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m001kh9c (from 5:17 minutes) Farmers Weeklyhttps://www.fwi.co.uk/business/compliance/farm-shoots-threatened-by-planned-new-welsh-licensing-laws Farming UKhttps://www.farminguk.com/news/rural-anger-as-wales-set-to-be-first-in-uk-to-licence-game-shoots_62329.html Nation Cymruhttps://nation.cymru/news/campaigners-warn-licensing-scheme-to-regulate-release-of-gamebirds-is-a-threat-to-rural-livelihoods/ See also a film today from Fieldsports TV See also an article from Fieldsports TV https://www.fieldsportschannel.tv/actnow/

The work done around the year to protect other species needs to be highlighted in this. If the shoot I run was to be shutdown, no cover for all birds to benefit from. No land management for habitats. Potentially less Predator control. Then the economy impacts. This isn't just against shooting. It will impact so many other things.

In that line up all but the BBC seem to be onboard and publishing the right message. Now if you could get that absolute steaming pile of dog **** and fake news otherwise known as Wales online on board then you could be on to a winner. I've shared this consultation as far and wide as my network allows.

Scully
We really are up against it nowadays. Reading further into the BBC link there are now constant attempts and campaigns to drop meat from school dinners. The indoctrination of the next generation into believing that eating meat is damaging the environment and planet is well under way. One agenda after another. Like I’ve said many a time….there won’t ever be a need to ban shooting, it will simply become harder and harder to continue.

We need more folk to get others involved. There are three kids in the village chomping at the bit for their SGC’s, but their licensing authority has decided to just not issue any grants for the foreseeable. 🤷♂️ Anyhow, to get back on topic, I have forwarded link ( plus a little cajoling to others ) but I know it’s a complete waste of time….it’s the old ‘that’s what I pay my membership for ‘ apathetic ( pathetic ) mindset. wyn
The consultation can be filled in more than once. I'm sure other organisations will make use of this feature

Keep in mind that there will (I imagine) be a log of your IP address. I'm aware this can be faked, but it's often used as proof of a (digital) signature with the online signing of contracts. Obviously this is slightly different insofar that it isnt a contract, but don't be surprised if they discount 20 something plus responses from the same IP. wyn
Don't forget this is the Welsh "government" they are probably not that clued up or are leaving it like this so certain groups can get the right result. I've filled it in 4 times with 4 different "response ID's at the end

Poor Shot
I've also filled out the CAW response mechanism which also sends a letter/email to your local MS's and Welsh MPs. Completely contrasting responses from both Labor and Conv below. Note that both responses are likely template responses. Welsh Labor MS Vikki Howells. Thank you for copying me into your email to Natural Resources Wales concerning proposals to regulate the release of game birds. As your letter is in response to a Natural Resources Wales consultation open until Tuesday, 20th June 2023, I encourage you to make your views known directly to Natural Resources Wales. You can provide your views to NRW via this link: https://ymgynghori.cyfoethnaturiol.cymru/evidence-policy-and-permitting-tystiolaeth-polisi-a-thrwyddedu/nrw-s-proposed-approach-to-regulating-the-release/consultation/intro/ I would not want to prejudge the outcome of the consultation while Natural Resources Wales is still seeking people’s views. Welsh Con MS Joel James Thank you for writing to Joel concerning the consultation on Natural Resources Wales’ (NRW) proposed approach to the regulation of the release of gamebirds. Joel appreciates you taking the time to notify him of your thoughts. The NRW launched their 12-week public consultation on behalf of the Welsh Government on a proposed licensing system for the release of pheasants and red-legged partridges in Wales following concerns over potential environmental impacts, particularly for protected sites. Significantly, they have asserted that this consultation is not on whether or not shooting live quarry should continue in Wales, but rather on further regulating the sector – but it is clear that this move would be intended to contribute to the Welsh Government’s ultimate aim of putting an end to game shooting in Wales for good. Welsh Conservatives understand that many people have strongly held views on this matter. Joel and his Welsh Conservative colleagues want to see a vibrant, working countryside enhanced by a diverse environment in Wales and, as the game shooting sector contributes to this goal, we will not support a ban on the practise. As a member of the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC), as well as being on the Cross-Party Group for Shooting and Conservation, Joel strongly believes in promoting and protecting sporting shooting. Joel acknowledges the exceptional benefits to biodiversity that come from management activities by the game shooting sector and is well aware that those involved in it care deeply for the environments they are active in, as it is an integral part of their pastimes and livelihoods. For these reasons, Joel and his Welsh Conservative colleagues will continue to stand up for Wales’ rural communities in the face of this out of touch Labour government. Thank you again for taking the time to write to Joel. I hope you find this information of use, if we can assist you with anything else, please do not hesitate to contact us. Conor O'Gorman
Thanks all for the feedback so far. For anyone unsure what to do a basic guide is as follows to completing your survey response to the consultation: Q1: Give your name. Q2: Give your email address (optional). Q3: Ignore. Q4: Say no, because that is a ban on gamebird releasing. Qs 5-8 Say no, because these are leading questions. Qs 9-12: you can skip these questions, unless you have comments to make on whether the proposals could in any way affect opportunities for people to use the Welsh language. Weihrauch17
Does anyone actually believe that a Labour Govt under Drakeford will take the slightest bit of notice. I have filled it in as per the instructions but really they are just going through the motions. England next in 2024 under Starmer who doesn't know what a woman is, Scotland under their new white hating leader maybe before that.
