Gordon R
Never liked him as Lily Savage, but came to like him for his charity work and his love of soul music. Thoroughly decent human being. A genuine loss.

Vince Green
Yes a lovely man. I met him briefly a couple of times about twelve years ago and he was an absolute gentleman.

Agriv8 The BBC packed him off not him packing it in... Didn't meet the age criteria... A sad day and a great loss, he was a genuine and decent person
JKD
I too wasn't keen on Lily Savage, but that was just an act. As a person, he always came across as genuine and caring. Enjoyed his short series on his adopted county of Kent. And his work with rescue dogs. RIP
London Best
Got to disagree, guys. Lilly Savage was brilliant.
Scully
Seemed a nice bloke. Far too young to go.
JohnfromUK
I understand he did a lot of good work for dog rescues and dog charities. Reading the tributes being paid, he seems to have been a genuine and caring person. His comedy didn't appeal to me, but there is no doubt he was good at what he did, generous and hard working. Mungler
Unlike too many on TV these days he actually had ‘it’ aka ‘talent’. Most comedians today are samey safe lefty bores.
Stephen-H
Wasn't born until the 1990's so the drag part was unseen & still is to me but was a big fan of his work on battersea dogs home . The bbc radio 2 show he did I used to love tuning in on a Sunday if I was working away always entertaining on a long drive down to work! Gone to young

I agree, if you ever saw him live you realised just what a class act he was. He said Lilly was like another person. Even he had no idea what was 'she' was going to say next. Most of his acts were unscripted.
