I virtually never use cash now. What a strange world we live in.

Cash.???  What is theese.?  The only thing that I use cash for is the weekly sub at the rifle club.  The club secretary gets a tin cashbox out and we pay in.  EVERYTHING else is either online, tap and go or nearly all of the time I use the bank app on the phone. I  almost see everyone who wants to deal with cash as some sort of tax dodger /fiddler. Businesses don't want cash because they get charged by the banks to handle it if you can find a bank branch.  If you stock it there is a security risk and someone's hands in the till. Even at small local village craft fairs the stalls have online mobile banking card payment readers. And you can check your account 24/7, make payment 24/7, and pay direct into peoples bank accounts instantly which they can check instantly. The days of cash and cheques are  numbered. I  payed the taxi driver with my phone to take me to the rail station.  I  payed for the train tickets  with my phone quick and easy.

Had a few days away down in SE Cornwall - used the ferry boat (like a fisherman's work boat) to get from Polruan to Fowey...sat there in the boat with my £5.60 in cash when the 'driver' whipped out a card machine - I very nearly fell over the side in surprise...  the chap said "I know, even in Cornwall!".

Almost all the car parks accepted contactless cards for payment  - except Polperro (truly beautiful), where the massive car-park had machines that only took cash (£6) and had numerous machines that converted notes into £1 coins....felt like a tax fiddle....

All you saying you never use cash or Businesses don't like cast because the banks charge for it then I need to mention I am in Business and I prefer cash, I do not fiddle the books as I have a chartered accountant.

A cashless society is being forced onto people so that banks can make more.

With you there - it shouldn't be one or the other - both need to exist.

Don't get onto CBDC - and the horrors that can bring on people.
