99.99% all that is needed is a wipe down with an oily cloth. Occasional drop of oil on the 45 on hinges and that's about it.

Not done anymore to my pcp and she's been good for the last 8 years or so. Don't clean the barrels on an airgun if using lead pellets.

Some strip them right down and mess about but really it's just giving them something to do.

Be careful not to get mineral  oil on any orings  this can break them down .

Use Abbey sm50 on orings .

Don't get and silicone between any metal parts that move , it will wear the metal away  .

Have I got it wrong as I thought that only applied to acid cured silicone sealant and then only on galvanised metal?

I bathed frequently for some 25 years in OM15 which is/was the RAF go to aircraft hydraulic oil. The 15 is the viscosity factor and the OM is oil mineral and the only thing which was immersed more often than me were the nitrile seals which were impervious to it.

Silcone Oils were designed for Plastic to Plastic or Plastic to Metal/Rubber, it's not rare to hear of Air Rifle bolts (PCP's) to sieze solid after Silicone Oil is used.

As hinted, I may well have got it wrong. A mate used a given grease on his shotgun which on closing started to smoke. Fortunately, he was one of those martial arts black belt guys and when it wouldn't open he HIT IT just in time. Back then we had access to some specialists and it wasn't just that grease but also the remains of the previous lubricant that didn't work well together. Also pointed out when using sprays you need to take into account the propellent and the carrier.

All too complicated for me now - it seems some silicone lubricants contain molybdenum - I was one of the guys back in the days of brass fishing rod ferrules who you'd see on the beach 'wiping his nose' with his rod - simples.

Why can’t folk just use 3 in 1 or any light machine oil or light engine oil and have no issues for the next hundred years like everyone used to do.
All these fancy gun greases and lubricants are unnecessary.

Worked for me since I was 8 and got my 1st airpistol. Not lost any seals due to it either, pcp or otherwise. Too much oil is worse than not enough.
