Decathlon Hide Pole Recommendation

Recommended Posts

Gents,

My brother and I recently dropped on some Decathlon hide poles on a trip to Paris.  They looked excellent with a nice long spike, a cam lock on the telescopic adjustment and are cheap so we bought all they had in stock at the time to try which was only two!

I tried them out for the first time yesterday and continue to be impressed.  (I might buy the company).  They are far more stable than the usual twist lock poles with the short spike that are widely available.  Once the wind gets up with the usual style, I feel like the little pig in his straw house with the constant need to adjust the poles to keep them upright.

I've ordered a ruck more for collection from Decathlon this week.  Get them now before some bean counter or other changes the design for the worst.

I hope the link above works.

Hello, I bought some years ago , a bit heavy and the holding clip can become loose over time but very sturdy and can use a mallet for hard ground, I thought Decathlon stopped selling shooting gear in UK?? They are all out of stock in Stores ??

Yes, I thought that Decathlon had stopped selling shooting equipment as well.  We thought we would have to order some in France for delivery to our sister who lives in Paris so she could bring them over on her next visit.  However, I found them on-line here and am waiting on an e-mail confirmation that they are ready for collection this week from the Stockport shop.

I did mention to my brother yesterday that the only potential weakness that I could see would be the cam lock.

Hello, They are very sturdy but the cam lock can work loose , easy to rectify I drilled through tube and used some D clips

They were i have a dozen but not used them yet full body jobs are too much to carry until the harvest they'll get a few goes nxt week.

They also had spreader bars to go with hide poles you'd definitely need a sherpa for that lot.

99% of all my shooting gear is decathalon.  way better than the stuff available on the UK market and a fraction of price of the american import market.

poles are heavy but will last, must be 5 years ive had mine.  a quick tip is they are steel and moisture will find its way inside, now and again  separate the parts and give them a good blast of WD-40 and leave upside down.

Stephen,

I’ve just received confirmation that my poles are ready for collection.

Another recommendation..

I've had a pair of these for a few years now, they're heavy and sturdy and stay up extremely well. The kicker is well-engineered and I can put my 14 stone weight on it to drive the poles in without fear of damaging it.
