bunny_blaster
Last Wednesday I had a message from the bloke who buys birds off me, he wanted everything we had so on Thursday I gave PC a call and we bagged up everything in our freezers. We had a total of 1375 so I had to borrow a van from work to deliver them. Whilst with PC I asked if he was coming shooting on Friday as I had birds on the wheat stubble from last week, it had been a long time since he’s been out and he didn’t need much persuading after his annual trip to Greece. This ground had been cultivated on Thursday but we gave it a go and decided to split up to maximise our chances. We had a great afternoon even though the birds really wanted another field further on than us with PC finishing on 111 pigeon and myself on 182. I was glad PC beat the 100 mark after many invites from myself which didn’t quite work out as well as I wanted but the jinx is finally up and it was great to see him back out doing what we enjoy most and getting amongst them. marsh man
Great to see you back Ben and nice to know that P C is still keeping his eye in and added another three figure bag to his very long tally of Red Letter Days , it must have been a relief to see well over 1000 go and a very welcome call from your dealer . HantsRob Posted Wednesday at 08:42 Report Share Posted Wednesday at 08:42 Well hot damn, that looks amazing!! If you ever fancy new company and show a new shooter how it's done, I have good coffee and cake and smacks? Bravo!
pigeon controller Posted Wednesday at 17:02 Report Share Posted Wednesday at 17:02 (edited) Following monthly chemo for 12 months and a stem cell transplant in February I’m finally getting some form of fitness back. Ben has been very kind and allowed me to join him on a number of occasions but my shooting was not up to his standard but I did appreciate the invites started to get my eye in. Following my normal month in Greece I was raring have a go on the stubbles. I was informed that the oak tree was the place but set up under the wrong oak tree!!! I had 155 shots for 111 birds which I was happy about. Ben came later than I and set up but it was not the right place so he moved to where the line had moved to and gained the better shooting. I must thank him for the opportunity to shoot and deny the rumours that he is my carer. pbutd Posted Thursday at 08:23 Report Share Posted Thursday at 08:23 Happy days ... so pleased to see you back in harness PC. Unfortunately you seem to have picked up some bad habits with your 'choreography of the slain' somewhere along the line. I bet you slept well! That shot to kill ratio is more than respectable too, not that it’s a competition and always depend on what you take on / how they commit on the day. I had a similar average yesterday afternoon, a few left in the 150 capacity bag for exactly 100 picked, having to take on testing birds to get the bag. I can only imagine how good it must feel to be back out in the hide after your spell of ill health, long may it continue!
