Jonty
Red deer venison shanks, braised in stout until they were almost fall apart and the bones pulled out spotless. Then finished off with a few dumplings - lovely stuff for an autumn evening!

Jonty
5 hours ago, ditchman said: never had them ...they look supreme I like to keep the shanks whole like in the pic, and also to cut the neck into slices with a bone saw rather than filleting the neck meat off the bone. The bone in both cuts just knocks the gravy up another level when you slow cook them - if you can ever get your hands on either, they're really worth trying. Karl87
How much would shanks like that cost? I don’t recall seeing venison for sale very often, but then again I’m a Aldi shopper don’t judge.

Their meat is excellent, though.

As this is a shooting forum i don't think its out of place to say,,You shoot the deer😉.. any self respecting sportsman would never buy any sort of game, fur or feather or feather.. 🤔

If you live anywhere near Settle North Yorkshire, or would ever be passing this way, they're free mate. I've never seen them for sale, but would be happy to pass a couple on for you to try.
