But all of the radio adverts of people saying how great they are ......

To be fair, I found them quite good initially .......... then they had rapid expansion by taking on customers from other failed suppliers - and it all went downhill.

  • 2 weeks later...

On the same basic subject, those planning to meet "net zero" needs to look at their own carbon usage if they are serious.

Why do we need to fly 470 delegates a 5000 mile round trip to talk about reducing carbon usage?

More typical two tier Kier Starmer;

  • You must cut your carbon usage whilst I and my officials use more.
  • You must pay higher taxes, whilst I and my officials take 'jollies' at the States expense

Quite simply they people pushing this at the govt level do not care. Aslong as our sheet of paper shows we don't create emissions they are happy. If we close a coal fired station and one opens in say France, the problem has not gone it's just moved. The worlds emissions have not reduced. And we are all inside the same atmosphere.. but the response will be, it's not on our data for the UK so we don't care.

Simply because they are rear ends and absolutely don't have the brains to care?

Just politicians ways of living 5 star?

The prepared reply of course is that it's routine air scheduled flights?

This picture of the world puts it All into perspective  our land mass  going net zero will have absolutely  no effect on the rest of the Globe. We are but a tiny island .

And because we are just moving it to another country. Going net Zero means another country produces what we don't. So the global emissions WONT CHANGE.  Just our govt preach utter rubbish about is being high and mighty

That's a bit above Milliband's level of understanding.

But unfortunately that sad reality...

Someone I know who attends meetings on these things challenged it and the reply was basically we don't care, it's not on our end of year sheet.

Milliband is making a huge personal contribution ........ to increasing global warming (in which he apparently believes) by clocking up 23,000 air miles since the election.  A fine example.

I think John, I read something somewhere this type of behaviour was referred to as, 'carbon necessity'

I won't be getting rid of my deisel guzzler any time soon.

People used to and i think some still do believe, the world to be flat. Despite the best science they saw with their own eyes that it was flat. Surely if it were round we would all fall off. We started the industrial revolution what better than to lead the world out of it. Of course its much easier cheaper and less of an affront to our lifestyles, to imagine that we know better than the scientists that study this stuff.

Problem with human uncivilisation is it's always the fault of someone else.

We want to lead the world in climate change tech and management.

470 is delegates registered. The UK govt party is just 57. You would expect that if the UK believes it's at the forefront of change then we want to be winning business across the world. This will need people to do it.

I think Friends of the Earth or one of those such organisations claims the carbon footprint of all global air traffic is only matched by that of global internet use, both of which will only increase rather than decline. Way to go!  🙂
