banno Posted Sunday at 22:20 Report Share Posted Sunday at 22:20 Hi guys I'm going to be looking for a beretta semi auto soon for wildfowling and pigeon shooting. I don't want to spend silly money maybe £800 max. What's the best thing to look out for? Only had hatsan autos before
Lloyd90 Posted Sunday at 22:31 Report Share Posted Sunday at 22:31 Not a Beretta considering your budget.

Yes, should get a SH MAXUS for less than £800, or a new franchi even. Lots of options

Acerforestry Posted Monday at 06:03 Report Share Posted Monday at 06:03 In my view, go Browning Maxus - if you change your mind you can always move one on, and they're bombproof. Or if your're sure you'll keep it, SX3 will do the same job for less
TIGHTCHOKE Posted Monday at 06:12 Report Share Posted Monday at 06:12 Cheapest and easiest option would be to get an older Beretta from the 300 series, very well made and "bomb proof" for much less money.

This. 👆 Mate of mine bought an old 300 series some years ago as he was frightened of getting his high grade Maxus scratched on our rough shoot or in the hide! He liked it so much he sent it to Teague where they lobbed a couple of inch off, multi choked it and reproofed it. The Maxus was sold but the Beretta is in regular use. sam triple Posted Monday at 08:22 Report Share Posted Monday at 08:22 Had a beretta 390 kept getting coked up being gas fed move to franchi a lot less hazel cleaning being inertia fed , 7 year warranty too
oowee Posted Monday at 08:54 Report Share Posted Monday at 08:54 I am on my third a300 and buy a new one every 3 years or so which was around 10000 rounds. I clean it once a year or so. They are quick compared to the a400, which is a bit of a lump. If I were shooting heavy loads all the time I would get an a400 with a longer barrel if its mostly pigeons and crows I would go for the a300 with the shortest barrel. udderlyoffroad Posted Monday at 10:18 Report Share Posted Monday at 10:18 As has been pointed out, an £800 budget for a semi makes the world your oyster…but you may have to go private rather than RFDs on higher end models. Personally I’d be looking at a Benelli - I picked a Montefeltro up for £500 back in 2020 from a dealer in Birmingham, and if anything prices have gone down not up. As ever though, fit is important even with a semi; go to a shop with an attached clay ground & try a few.
Stimo22 Posted Monday at 12:26 Report Share Posted Monday at 12:26 Got a very nice Franchi Affinity one coming up , with hard case and some cartridges for half that money. In North Bucks if interested
murray smith Posted Monday at 13:01 Report Share Posted Monday at 13:01 Pre-owned Beretta 301/302/303 every day of the week, they are very robust, reliable and easy to clean
Scully Posted Monday at 16:07 Report Share Posted Monday at 16:07 As others have suggested, absolutely nothing wrong with either Franchi or Benelli; I have owned both and currently still own the latter. I only sold the Franchi as it was bought for my nephew. Fabulous gun.
retromlc Posted Monday at 16:15 Report Share Posted Monday at 16:15 (edited) I'd look at fabarm, full choke HP steel permitted, cheaper with better trigger you'd have to check for 3" chamber Edited Monday at 16:16 by retromlc
originalgeezer Posted Tuesday at 21:13 Report Share Posted Tuesday at 21:13 Another shout out for a Benelli from myself, have found them ultra reliable, robust and you will find second hand at a reasonable price. Just realised I've owned four over the years and also an A400 which was great but for the budget, and use I would personally look at a Benelli
