Homelessness

I took my son fishing on the canal today and came across a guy living outside. Freezing cold and he had nothing but a coat and some cardboard.  So sad not sure what the answer is.  We can house every illegal but not our own, he might not want housing but how sad.

Firstly I hope you and your son enjoyed your fishing, secondly I have some British military issue sleeping bags in the garage not doing much or a mummy sleeping bag a bit newer if you are willing to supply an address I can send one for you to pass on, it may make an unfortunate situation a bit more comfortable.

Maybe an illustration of a very sick political system?

Disgraceful!

Care more for others than your own?

On a slightly different angle, met a man last year while in hospital and spent 3 weeks in the same room. He was telling me that he claims that he is homeless so the hospital cannot kick him out thus he gets to stay for weeks rent free. He actually has a flat in a different county that he rents out but spends his money on alcohol, gets drunk and arrested for being disorderly then smashes his head against anything he can in custody, gets taken to hospital and the cycle starts over again. Actually a nice bloke but talk about playing the system, even watched him asking for bottles as he claimed he couldn't walk to the toilet as he was unstable just so he didn't have to get out of bed.

No surprise, just human nature?

Good, bad and ugly?

Stems from the top? Seeing the top tiers rogering every situation is the starting point?

No good blaming the participants as in all things the blame lies with the enablers?

Didn't catch anything but got some fresh air, first time we have blanked in 8 trips.  A very kind offer thank you.  He had a bike and I don't think he stays in the same place, I go down quite a bit and it is the first time I have seen him.

There was (a couple or more years ago) a man locally sleeping outdoors - and a lot of sympathy on local social media pages.  However - as so often, there was more to it than met the eye.  He had apparently been given various accommodations by social services - which for various reasons he claimed were unsuitable - and a number of them were 'damaged' whilst he was involved.  Apparently he was very pleasant and personable - when he wanted something  - but very 'difficult' (unpleasantly so with threats) when something didn't suit.  A lot of people tried to help both the 'official' helpers and charities, but nothing lasted.

I believe he has since died.  It is very difficult to help some people.

I have worked near Trafalgar Square on and off for 18 years.
The same, morbidly obese, Big Issue seller has had the same pitch - between Charing Cross station and Waterstones - for all those years.  He’s there more frequently in the summer, but to be fair, he’ll be there for the less clement holidays.
I don’t understand how a BI seller can be  “homeless” for so long.

I believe the Big Issue was very good when originally set up and instigated as an aid to better the unfortunate in society. It would appear to have been high jacked on route and morfed into a large scale scam. In my area I have been told by the same lady who has been operating her pitch for over 10 years, that the system was originally designed to make each seller self employed for 6 months only selling the B I, that would then make them able to claim all Britain's benefits and the pitch would be given to another unfortunate to help them integrate into our system. Bearing in mind that if you are a British subject being self employed you are eligible for nothing. This lady went on to say that she now acts as a paid stand in for dozens of her fellow Rumanian friends and family who all enter our country illegally. That is why when you see these B I sellers they all look the same. I tried once to speak to B I head office and got the usual no comment. Good earner eh ?

Hello, With the rivers and canals water very cloudy it can be hard fishing, a small dead bait will catch pike and perch
