Westlands Gun rack

Had a run up today to drop off a gun for a RFD/RFD transfer and had a browse as you do.
To me the more interesting items are always to be found in the s/h racks more than the new top end stuff.
Anyhow, there was an ( can’t belive it’s still there! ) exquisite 20 bore Remington Wingmaster, a very very nice Winchester 101 Field, a tempting G1 Miroku trap and what I first thought to be an old Breda because of its external choke but what was actually a very nice Franchi self loader. Some really good quality self loaders actually, and although they’re all beyond my finances some impressive top end examples of Browning, Miroku, Perazzi and CG.
Have very few SIPE left and with little chance of getting to Malmo before I run out, bought a slab of Hull High Pheasant 30grm 5’s. Time will tell. 🙂

Hello, There are some realy good second hand shotguns about now for sale  Is that Wingmaster a bottom ejector ?  I tried a semi auto a few time but got fed up trying to pick up the cases in the long grass or hedge hide, I actually made a magnet stick to pick up cases,

No, the Wingmaster is a side ejector @oldypigeonpopper I’m afraid. I owned one once, but the synthetic version in 12 bore. I bought it for my nephew but he soon lost interest in it in favour of OU’s, so I used it. It was a fabulous gun and as slick as the best pumps are, and I often think about getting another for a general ‘ knock about rabbiting/doing the feeders sort of day’ as the synthetic version is a fabulous bombproof tool.
The 20 at Westlands has wooden furniture and is a lovely little gun.
There was also a nifty little Mossberg .410 pump in the s/h racks too.
I know it’s a pain picking up empties, and the magnet I bought some time ago isn’t up to much. Should get a better one some time.

I had an 870 Wingmaster in 12 bore  swapped the Woodford a black synthetic stock and forend from Ebay. Really enjoyed shooting it.

My fiend also had a black 870 which had a 3.5" chamber and we had seen 63gm BB's ( I think Federal) but it kicked like a mule with those.

One Sunday morning he rang me to say he had arrived back in Dublin and realised he had my gun and I had his. They were carbon copies of each other so it wasn't a hard mistake to make. Totally illegal over here to have someone else's gun but we managed to get them swapped back about a week later.

We both eventually went back to autos - I got another 11-87 and he got an 11-96 which was a very rare Remington made foe the European market.
