marsh man
A good ole mixture there and not a packet or carton in sight , I think cooking must be one of Simons highlight of the day and you can see he devote a fair bit of time to achieve a decent meal , not over keen on Prawns or Shrimps as to me they seem tasteless but that is just me . I find that the sauce they are done in is often better than the prawns themselves , I had a nice one over the Christmas period from Waitrose , this was a family size one but I didn't pay a lot for it and it lasted over a few cold meat meals , not exactly as a starter but went well with the cold meat meal . TIGHTCHOKE
You like Marie Rose sauce then and are not bothered by the prawns?

Well the sauce make the Prawns taste better, without the sauce they would be nothing to write home about , my wife used to buy some of the cheaper ones from Tesco and if you were blind folded you wouldn't have a clue what you were eating , some of the bigger ones are alright and we have had the Chinese ones that are coated in batter , all in all , prawns would be something I wouldn't be in a hurry in buying , even if they were greatly reduced . Scully
I love prawns, in fact seafood in general, but shrimps and prawns are one of my favourite foods. In St Ives and abroad I will eat nothing other than seafood if I have the choice. I buy my prawns frozen from my local grocer but can’t recall the brand. Will post it next time I get some as they taste wonderful. I mostly use them in a very similar dish to Ditchies, but I stir in two or three eggs to end up with an egg fried noodle dish.
