Frank, a lakeland terrier who was the most tenacious and bloody frustrating dog I've ever had. Lost most of his muzzle when he ran off once, (could only have been one thing). Cost me 700 quid to put him right. Top dog though.

Jim, a patterdale terrier who was 16 years old and was a very great loss for the whole family just before xmas. God he went through the wars as well. Had to be dug out of a drainge pipe by the fire brigade with a thermal imager, having chased a rat up there. :D

Lost Misty Hollows Kreaton Yesterday. Kreaton was put down at 15 1/2 years of age. I asked my Parents to watch this German Shorthair Pointer pup when he was 8 1/2 weeks old as I had to go out of town on business, never did get him back. He was a loyal and loving companion to my Mom and Dad and protected the house and farm. I know he is sadly missed by my Parents, and will be remembered well.

I have just sat reading all the posts with tears pouring down my face at the thought of all the companions we have all lost.

The first dog we lost was called chip she was a chocolate patterdale and such a loving dog, the second one was one that can never be replaced she was called tina, she was my husbands dog, she was a tint little cross terrier who was fearless, had a heart the size of a house and loved my husband so much, she was so loyal and the best little worker we ever had, the third was paddy, a lakeland terrier who was faithfull and loving and my friend. We miss them all so much and will never forget them, we have such happy memories of all my dogs past and present.

Men with dogs will understand.

Time does heal all wounds.

Eventually.

When you think of him, you'll smile and say to yourself, "that was a bloody good dog," giving him the highest praise he could earn.

It's time to mourn, so break out the booze and call your buddies over.

I’ve had to put two down over the years. Both overtaken by C.

BEAUT. >(Beauty). A Lab bitch that retrieved everything from Woodcock to Fox. Gentle and loyal but pinned the FEO against the wall when he came to visit and walked through the open back door unannounced. Really showed him the fang. Extra rations issued that night.

SOCKY. A Lab X Springer bitch. Another fantastic animal that never let me down. She had a great dislike for ****** and Jehovas witnesses and would show the fang to them all.

I remember her retrieving a downed duck from an island on a fishing lake when several other dogs had already searched for it in vain. She swam out to the island, found the duck, secured it and jumped over a load of brambles into the water. She then swam back and came to heel and to hand. This was done in front of the assembled shooters of the syndicate. Again extra rations were issued.

At present I have two Springers. Mum and daughter.

I found the following text somewhere and saved it for a time like this. Get the tissues out.

A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the

scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead. He

remembered dying, and that the dog walking beside him had been dead

for years. He wondered where the road was leading them.

After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of

the road. It looked like fine marble. At the top of a long hill, it

was broken by a tall arch that glowed in the sunlight. When he was

standing before it he saw a magnificent gate in the arch that looked

like Mother of Pearl, and the street that led to the gate looked like

pure gold.

He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he got closer, he saw a

man at a desk to one side. When he was close enough, he called out,

"Excuse me, where are we?"

"This is Heaven, sir," the man answered.

"Wow! Would you happen to have some water?" the man asked.

"Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some ice water brought

right up." The man gestured, and the gate began to open.

"Can my friend," gesturing toward his dog, "come in, too?" the

traveller asked.

"I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets."

The man thought a moment and then turned back toward the road and

continued the way he had been going with his dog.

After another long walk, and at the top of another long hill, he came

to a dirt road which led through a farm gate that looked as if it had

never been closed. There was no fence. As he approached the gate, he

saw a man inside, leaning against a tree and reading a book.

"Excuse me!" he called to the reader. "Do you have any water?"

"Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there". The man pointed to a place

that couldn't be seen from outside the gate. "Come on in."

"How about my friend here?" the traveller gestured to the dog.

"There should be a bowl by the pump." They went through the gate, and

sure enough, there was an old fashioned hand pump with a bowl beside

it.

The traveller filled the bowl and took a long drink himself, then he

gave some to the dog. When they were full, he and the dog walked back

toward the man who was standing by the tree waiting for them. "What do

you call this place?" the traveller asked.

"This is Heaven," he answered.

"Well, that's confusing," the traveller said. "The man down the road

said that was Heaven, too."

"Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates? Nope.

That's Hell."

"Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like that?"

"No. I can see how you might think so, but we're just happy that they

screen out the folks who'll leave their best friends behind."

I love my dogs and the memories of them are stronger than of a lot of people that I have known. It's like this. >>>

Always sad to see you go. Always glad to see you come home. They dont tell lies and they don't steal from you. Well >>> Bracken ate my dinner once when I had to go to answer the door.

Hello very good fortune :stupid: to the site.I know what you mean about dog's as there is nothing queerer than folk.Im sick of having been screwed around & let down & people going behind your back.Plus people trying to get your ground etc but that's life.A dog will alway's love you no mater how bad you treat it & i bred my own dog's & bring them into this world & it's hard to see there short life's go by.

Lost a family pet JR-terrier zippy when 11yrs old as was he.

In 2002 put my first black lab bitch down heather to an agresive tumour & the mother of my yellowdog & black bitch i have now RIP Heather

Im not looking forward to the yellow dog's day as he's 10yrs now & semi retierd but know by the next 5yrs or so he will be pushing flower's.

This is the part i hate with dog's but i now keep plenty pic's etc for visual memorie's.
