Night shifts.

Its the works do so being unpopular i got to cover the graveyard shift.9pm till 8am. i struggle to sleep in the day and as my shift goes on I just drift into a twighlight zone of feeling addled and out of sorts.I dread anything happening that requires any thought or skill.Unfortunately I am watching 12 cardiac monitors and have to put a call out if something bad happens.Am able to use the net to keep awake tho cant really give it my full attention.I look forward to the bleary eyed day staff coming in hungover so I dont feel so bad about missing the do.I was going to make an effort and go this year but am now glad I saved the cash.Bad music and bad overpriced drink usually makes for a poor night anyhoo.My sympathy to all others on nights .

i love doing nights , im home by 4.30 and up by 11 all of the shops are open in the day the only thing i hate about nights is that i could be out lamping but then again in the summer im out all day shooting

My sympathy to you vole, i only did around two years on nights and hated every minute of it.

 

Now years later i wonder how i ever managed it, still, someones got to do it.

I work 12 hour shifts 2 days 2 nights 4 off have worked shifts for nearly 40 years and guess what? the nights get no easier, older you get the harder it is to sleep during the day, never mind roll on death.

I prefer the night shift.

 

i find it easier to sleep during the day and if you need 2 sort things out you can force yourself to get up

I hate em as well dude, but the band 6 night enhancements are good for the wallet!!!! I have 4 nights next week finishing on xmas eve morning!!! I only have 10 cardiac monitors to watch!!!!

when i drove the trucks back home i enjoyed the nights, less traffic, less hassle, did a lot of runs to Felixstowe, Grain, Ipswich to name a few of the container ports, drove through the night park and sleep whilst unloading and off again, throw the card (tacho) and write out another one, got so as some days i forgot who was supposed to be driving

I love the nightshift, I go in at 10, can be home by 3 if all goes to plan, up by 9 and have the day to myself! great for if I want to work on my car or get things done around the house!

Hate nights - out of 28 years at BBC I've worked nights or rt-nights for 18 years - one streth of 3 years where I did mainly 2 hour nightshifts on live programmes. never adjusted to sleeping during the day. Never again. A swine for family life too.
