Nice story but typical yanks, the picture is a fake, a good one though...

The hog is not casting a shadow unlike the man in the picture.

Can you imagine any American keeping that thing secret and burying the carcass unless it was anything other than a put up job... of course not... They would be saddling it up, stitching on some micky mouse ears and riding it on the electoral campaign to the tune of Dixie..

Call me sceptical.... but somethin aint quite right dawgnamit ;)

Mike, I have met a chap who posts as, "Copperbelly", on a US Fishing Forum.

He swears that the picture is accurate, the hog weighed over 1000 lbs and he personally knows the man who buried it.

"Copperbelly" is 6ft-4ins tall and almost as round.

He is a "good old boy" and never told a lie in his life.

Hmmm... I would in no way question copperbellies integrity, having never met the guy. but I have my doubts...

I have shown the picture to a friend who is a professional photographer and though he cant be certain he reckons the hog is superimosed and the perspective is wrong. The hog in the picture based on the average size and weight of the man stood by it should be about 2000LB..!!!;)

Real or not that is some pig.

With FM here, If the sun is consistant which it ends to be whereI live, the shadow of the pig would cover more than his shoulder going by the mans shadow. Also, may just be me but it appears that his right hand has had his fingers stretched to cover both feet.

Still a rum sized hog though!

red stagg88, A boar that size and obvious age, would taste like an old boot.

The cooking smell would be awful.

My friends in the US would not eat any adult boar, even the small males have to be castrated and bled immediately they are killed, to avoid the meat tasting musky.

Feral/wild pigs are not quite the same as our tame porkers. ;)
