Hunters in the referenced video were probably shooting Mourning doves, definitely not pigeons. For the most part, when it comes to such hunting, US wingshooters concentrate on either Mourning Doves or White-wing doves; not too often on pigeons, per se. There are Band-Tailed Pigeons in some of the western states, including California, but they generally recieve very little hunting pressure and even less notoriety.
