Computer question.

I have installed an XP upgrade over a corrupt ME system.

There have been a few problems with compatability, printer, mouse etc.

But, I seem to have resolved most of them, by downloading new drivers etc.

A strange situation remains.

I can,t use smilies, not just on this site, but anywhere.

If I click on a smilie, nothing happens.

For example if I click on the basic smilie opposite, I get the following, in the space at the bottom of the screen (above the task bar)," java script:emoticon(":D") ". The bit in the brackets is the semi colon and bracket, not the smiling face.

Any ideas ?

Obviously something needs "turning on".

anthony, I have put PigeonWatch and some others in to my "Trusted Sites" and it still doesn,t work.

I have been back tracking over the amendments and upgrades I have made in the last couple of days, to try to find where I have accidently affected it.

Its not of major importance, its just irritating.
