red_stag88 Posted December 23, 2002 Report Share Posted December 23, 2002 No i've not been in Iraq but Battle near hastings in sussex. i have again been stalking on 3000 achers and had a very good time, as all the rabbits are keeping warm, i for went the 22LR and took my .177 lighting for a spin and controled some of the tree rat population. im three hours of one moring shooting from a high seat and only walking 100yds i had 21 in the bag!!! And whoever says ".177 for fur, .22 for feather" is very wrong, i too a 40yd shot at a tree rat, hit him in the left side of the chest and found the pellet bottom right leg. Dead as a dodo, no messing. in four days a group of six shot (2 with .22 or air rifles) 8 fallow, 32 squirrles, 4 foxes, 3 phesents, 2 pigeons and a crow. (fyi that part of sussex holds the only poulation of boar in brittain, the biggest shot so far is 550lbs!!! :( ) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

red_stag88 Posted January 12, 2003 Author Report Share Posted January 12, 2003 I always thought it was 177 for feather and 22 for fur. i find that .177 has the extra range, they are as good as each other for head shots in power any way so the range is a bonus.
