apbuild
Anyone here got, or used a DMT Diamond Whetstone for sharpening? If so, are they good and where can I get one? Cheers, Rob.
ProteuS
hi, i've got one of those, blue / red with the folding handles, but i've 'misplaced' the bleeding thing at the moment it works quite quickly but i found that it's initial roughness dissapears quite quickly, i put this down to just wearing in, it is possible to get a very nice sharp finish and the folding handles are good for transport, only thing is it's just a bit small i find hope this helps
apbuild
Cheers ProteuS, I am looking at the double sided multi sharpener myself. I believe it is fine one side and extra fine on the other. Rob.
ProteuS
aye i think that would be the one to go for the medium side does help you get an edge back quickly if it's quite blunt, as for where to get them, i got mine from a stand at a show, but i know that machine mart sell them and you can get 17.5% off the price if you go on one of the vat free evenings
Lurch
I like the Fallkniven DC-4. Ceramic on one side, diamond on t'other. Comes in a smart leather pouch and is compact enough to drop into your pocket. £16.95 from Heinnie Haynes or The Trading Post
tucker
HI Apbuild I have had the DMT for over 10 years now and it still sharpens as good as the first day. Ive got the red one (think thats FINE ). It only takes two or three strokes either side after every time I use it, and I can shave the hairs off the back of my hand. Its ready for the next time. Just make sure you get the angle right, I would not be without one. I have bought other types from the game fairs, but none have been as good. All my mates have them, and most of them go deer stalking. Regards TUC.
apbuild
Cheers guys, Bought the pocket sized double sided sharpener from DMT. It has given my Gerber AR a new lease of life. It is now razor sharp and ready for use. Regards, Rob.
