If your going this weekend the traffic is a nightmare, my advice would be to come into Woodstock from Enstone direction and turn down the old High Street and use the fishermans entrance on Rectory Lane, no hold ups straight in. The people we met said it took them four hours to get in from Bourton on the water, which is close by.

Hope this helps.

We came in from the south and were within five miles of the site by 0730. Those five miles took over an hour at that time of day. A mate arrived near the site at 0830 and did`nt get in until 1030!

You really would think that the traffic planners could get it right for once.

Nick.

We plan to be there @ 07:30 I will be coming up from Begbroke, if that isn't enough I will turn round and go home and get on with my DIY

Yep, it's the only way. Last time we went we got there before 7am and missed all the traffic. Early but better than sitting in jams. Not going this year unfortunately.

Had a fantastic day there today, arrived at 7.30 with only minor traffic although I hear that those that turned up later sat in traffic. It did'nt shut till 7.30 so stayed till then.

Plenty to see and it's a great venue so blow the cobwebbs out of your wallets and get down there, I'd be back there tomorrow if I could only convince the wife.

If you going over the weekend have a good one.

I went yesterday. Got there at 07.10am after a 2 hour drive from s.Wales. Traffic was okay with no hold ups. My only gripe was that the car park was a hell of a long way from the showground which made walking back to the car a few times for drinks etc, that more tiring. And it was ******* Hot.

Did anyone meet any other PW members there ?

I didn't meet anyone off here, but I met soo many people I know I didn't get to much else, which bearing in mind the heat wasn't a bad thing.

It's amazing how many contacts you build up over time, and what a small world it is, most of them know each other one way or another.

Hardly bothered with the shops as I have enough fishing and shooting gear to last a lifetime and most of what I want gets bought online.

Traffic wasn't a problem for me, up at 6:30am out the door at 7:00, rolled into the carpark at 7:30 :good:

The entry fee and food/drink prices now are silly, I would think long and hard about going again.

Mum, Dad, 2 rugrats, £80 before you get in. 4 pork rolls £19-20, 2 portions chips £5, pint and a half £5-25. Sad to say, I couldn't afford to buy anything else. The traders must realise that allowing the organisers to fleece the punters to this level can only have a detrimental effect on their trade. The catering stall I questioned about their pricing told me they had been charged £3000 (no typing error) to pitch there for the weekend.

Got up late, left London at 9am arrived 1.30pm, ouch. Went A40 route.

Had a great day, saw some good displays and some good gun porn in the Beretta tent.

Have to agree food etc was expensive nearly £6 for \ pork baguette but it was nice, Mrs had a lovely venison steak roll, mmmmh.

Great show but I almost found it too big, the Countryman fair I went to last year in Sussex or Surrey (or where ever it was) had good displays but was smaller so you could get to see everything, the CLA one was really a massive shopping mall.

Had a great day on friday. Did a bit of clay shooting, signed up to the basc, had an absolutely awesome guineal fowl burger, got some stuff for a whip, watched the hounds. Then went hunting the next day! Great couple of days. Everything was very pricey though, £3.40 for the burger.

saturday was stinkin' hot but managed to get roung the lot went and saw all the PW members i could find even got a cracking bargin off decko and his lads , can't wait wait for next weekend to try out all my new toys. in terms of cost i think its a bargin.a day at the cricket £140 a pop rugby £6o, tickets to the wimbedon mens final £4000 a pair . take the missis out for a curry and afew ales your not gonna get much change out of £50. every year i go i'm busting with new ideas and an even longer list of "must haves". great to see some of the "experts " up close and personal. reassuring to see so many people turn out in support of what we all love . THE GREAT BRITSH COUNTRYSIDE.

Just me and the misses, fuel, food and tickets £140 and that was only from North Yorkshire and nothing to extravagant on the food front!! With inflation as it is the time will come when organisers will have to start droping gate prices and the stands will have to drop their prices robbing ****!!

Visited the CLA Game Fair Friday, Paul Hart (good man and thank you Paul :hmm: ) had sent some tickets not only so I could go and take full advantage of his generous PW member discounts :D but always just such a good welcome.

What an event, huge and crowds of people all spending loads and loads of dosh (and they say there’s a recession on). BASC stand was good (take note all those BASC detractors, it was the best of all the shooting organisations, those who were there, by far) with some useful demos, Mike Robinson (Heavens Kitchen chef) skinned and butchered a Roe Buck which gave me some useful tips , been doing it since I was knee high but always a few new ‘tricks of the trade’ to learn. Chris Green, that comic little man (and I mean no disrespect to him for that but his constant disorganisation does remind me of Norman Wisdom!) was doing his bit which again always gives one a few extra tips and whilst some may knock him, his heart’s in the right place. Spent a small fortune on his decoys (again) which I reckon are the best in the business.

Saw some old friends, made a few new ones, ate way too much of all the great food on offer (and I don’t mean the fast food junk at the catering stands) spent all the housekeeping for the next 6 months (so we’ll be livin’ off the land for a while) and then had the problem of getting it all off site. Thanks again to PH who generously leant his car for the delivery to the car park. So much to see, do and spend on that one day just isn’t enough (well not for me but Mrs H would probably kick at a longer visit). Bad part is we left home at 04.30 took 2 hours to get there (which is damn good going from our part of the world) then sat in the traffic for 1 hour 20 minutes to get in the car park! And that at 06.30 in the morning so god knows what it was like for those who came later. Arrived home at midnight and went spark out by 12.01! :good:
