Pharoh hound

i was just walking my dogs and i saw this golden/sandy colured dog that looked like a lurcher cross , so i asked the owner what kind of dog it was and he said it was a pharoh hound , was incredably fast would be a great rabbit dog he told me that egyptoians used them as guard dogs Pharoah hound click

Yes - There is a couple where I live that have three of these dogs. Lovely looking, almost like a Vizsla with spikey ears.

ive see them a few time at different shows , i was told they are on the rare breed list so there probably wont be many lurchers around from this cross , im sure someone must have tried it .but they do look the part .

Hiya, they are indeed rare!

 

Beautiful dogs and like you say...incredibly fast! Low maintenance, their bodies were designed for the Egyptian heat and they were almost royal...when they're owners passed on and were mummified, they would be laid to rest in the tombs with them.

 

I've only been lucky enough to see one in the flesh, but they are lovely and it is nice to see that people still support the breed!

It makes me feel sad when you see certain breeds disappearing.

What is the IN dog at the moment

Couple of year back round here it was the Westie.

If you didnt have one . Then you were not mixing in the right social circles.
