Ok I know next to nothing about scopes, My Ruger 10/22 has one.. its very nice and works well. I would like to do a little shooting in the evenings.. I have seen in the mags what's called Illuminated scopes, Do these help with shooting in the "Dark" or do I need a night vision scope?? Any advice appreciated. Many thanks.

The illuminated scopes are okay I suppose. They normally have an illuminated dot or cross hair. This is good for low light when you can still see the target. It just allows you to see the centre of the scope to help you aim. In total darkness they are useless.

NV is a different kettle of fish. It depends on how much you want to spend, from a few £100 to £1000's

I use a Cobra Merlin monucular which I attach to my day scope. I also use a Blazerlite with IR filter to give me more 'light'. This set up is brilliant and I use it for foxes on my 22-250 rifle.

As mentioned, do a search on PW and you will find a lot of information regarding your question. Feel free to ask me anything about my set up.

Cheers

Steve
