I have almost finished making my own magnet, all i need now is the two arms ( i am having trouble finding spring steel!) So far the project is costing me £2.70 and it has taken me three hours to make! How can anyone charge £100+ for one of these? If anyone wants pictures or even a set of plans send me a PM with your e-mail address and i will send them to you!

Any one got any ideas for the arms?

As a point of interest

I went out this week on a great field near East Leeds, 1000's of birds in area for 5 days and then they all dissapeared the day I went shooting, however I tried out the following.

I took the wheels and body off a radio controlled car to leave the casing around the electronic and mechanical parts, used some connectors I bought from maplin to add some stiff metal (4mm dia. , 200mm long with 30mm turn up) extensions to the axle, each with a turn up (like symmetrical L-shaped bars on either side of the car body).

After I shot my first pigeon I removed the wings and pushed them onto each bar. Placed a shallow pigeon shell decoy on top.

Radio controlled spinning wing decoy for under a few £££'s!

Great fun and "some" of the pigeons came right to it.

just read through this thread as i`m thinking of making my own magnet.

would it be a good idea to make 2 as it is going to cost no more to make 2 as it is to make 1.

would 2 work better in the field or am i just as likely to get the job done with 1 and sell the extra or keep as spare.
