amateur
My preference is Laphroaig .. but yesterday, after the wedding reception, everyone kept consoling me (for losing a daughter) with large single malts - no idea what they were, and after 4 of them I didn't really care but they were goood. Today, of course, I am suffering!!
smsguitarist
Glenmorangie for me. Single Malt 10 year. Second to that it'd be Famous Grouse. None of this Burban **** Lewis

libs
For mixing its either Grants family reserve, or their 100% proff yanky gear. In terms of singles I've found Glendullen's non-chill filtered 46% 14 year old, and Tomatins 12 to be very nice. Any of the non-chill filtered singles are very nice, but the Glendullen just has a softer after taste than some of the 50%
Yellow Bear
Laphroaig. Lagavoulin, Ardbeg, Oban - in decreasing peatiness. D

windrush
Macallan is my Speyside of choice but nothing will ever beat Lagavulin in my book. Saddest thing in the world (well maybe not quite) is when you're drinking a whisky and you find it's no longer produced. Something particularly poignant about that, don't you think? The poignancy is invariably linked to how much you've drunk - still, I've had some very emotional evenings. As for Bourbon, Makers Mark? - cough mixture.
