A friend i shoot with has a nice little .223 he brought second hand from a gun shop a while ago now, while at kellmarsh game fair we spoke to one of the guys from john bradshaw guns about buying a T8 for it, the rifle currently has a moderator but it's long heavy and not much cop, the guy told us yeah thats fine can i look at his ticket after a quick look he said to my mate you don't need a variation beause the moderator for the .223 is down as being unknow so as long as you give me your old moderator it's fine, only problem is waht happens if he buys one then notifies the police and they kick up a stink.

need some advise please

If he has a mod on his ticket and the slot is filled. then he will need to send it back for a variation.

We often have this in the shop with guys trying to "upgrade", UNLESS the other mod is taken off then the shop cant sell you another...........LEGALLY.

I think you are making a rod for your own back here. If you have a mod unknown on ticket and you give it to the shop and get a new one from them you still have a mod unknown for the same cal on ticket I cant see a problem with this although by the letter of the law you should **** about wasting your time the gun shps time and police time with paperwork.

your call.

What is strange is you can go in to a gun shop and buy a sak mod for an air rifle without an FAC no problem. If you screw it on to the front of your .22lr or .17hmmr and you dont have it on ticket you are ilegaly in possetion of a fire arm and technicaly liable for up to 5 years in prison for it.
