Hi Darren

You will not go wrong with the posting by NTTF 8 week course pinned at top of forum. Guess it also depends on how developed you dog and you are so far.

I attended local Gundog Club meet last night (which runs every two weeks) with my pal who also has a 2 year old lab, just to get some ideas of the way forward (my pup is 12 weeks) it was really nice to see a mix of age and ability (both dog and handler)

They split into groups of puppy 6 to 9 months ish, novice, which had dogs from 9 months to 5 years, and advanced.

I attended the novice with my pal to watch and learn and it was good fun and I picked up a lot of hints and advise. For this class the dog had to walk to heel on and off lead, sit on command up to 30 yards on the stop whistle. They practiced memory retrieves, a thrown dummy with starting gun shot fired, and a retrieve across a small dyke.

The nice thing was some dogs where learning new skills whilst others where maintaining social skills and steadiness, along with keeping them active during the less active part of the shooting calendar, which sounds like that would suit your needs.

Perhaps you also have a local club who run a similar meet?

Good luck
