This contribution may seem a little off topic but I hate bad spelling so

here is a little poem which highlights some anomalies when running spell checker.

Title: Ode to the Spell Checker

Eye halve a spelling chequer

It came with my pea sea,

It plainly marques four my revue

Miss steaks eye kin knot sea.

Eye strike a quay and type a word

And weight for it two say,

Weather eye am wrong oar write

It shows me strait a weigh.

As soon as a mist ache is maid

It wont bee sew furlong,

And eye can put the error rite

Its rare lea ever wrong.

Eye have run this poem threw it

I am shore your pleased two no,

Its letter perfect awl the weigh

My chequer tolled me sew.

Anon.

Not shooting related, but I can't stand wimmen describing something as 'to die for'.

AAAGGGGHHHHH.

My kids, my niece and nephews and the wife (and Queen and country) are 'to die for'.

What they're describing is usually overpriced 'keeping up with the Jones' kak.

OK, as there is a thread for it, one of the things that really gets me is referring to foxes as 'Charlie' :good:

Do people shooting them really pretend (or believe) that they are in the Vietnam war?

If so it's very scary that those people are out there with guns.

(ducks to avoid shellfire :good: )

:good:

And people who start speaking to you with the word "Listen" <_<

"Listen yah, I want to buy some travel insurance for my ski trip to G'staaaad"

"**** off" :good:

Guaranteed to ensure that I will be doing anything but listening (daaaaahling) <_<:good:

I hate "basic'cally" and "he turned round and said" at the begining of a sentence....Another pet hate of mine is the youth of today have taken it upon them-selves to speak in "Up-Speak"..The practice of going up a pitch with the last word of their sentence...My son is a fan of this way of talking..

Yes, you are spot-on with that :good:

I just couldn't put it into words. Isn't it ******* irritating :good::oops:<_<

It's like they're trying to sing <_<

Where did that bollix start? I bet it was Australia. They watch all those Home & Away Neighbours garbage things. Sounds like the kind of thing Australians would do when they're trying to sound all sophisticated and Boho :good::good:

I'm glad it's not just me

You're on the money Chard, it did indeed come from Australia.

And it is also incredibly irritating. I find it tends to be used by 20 something "fresh out of uni" types when they are trying to sound like they know what they are talking about or they have a valid point to make in a discussion/argument (which of course they dont, ever.)

Why would anybody want to talk like an australian anyway?.....I tell my son to pack it in every-time he speaks....He's learning not to do it around me...
