You are basically talking about 67mm and 70mm shells.

If you use a gun with 70mm chambers then there is little, or no, real noticeable difference between the two due to the fact that they will both allow the crimp to open fully in the chamber.

However if you use a 70mm shell in a gun with 2½ (67mm) chambers then you are putting the gun, and yourself, at risk due to the higher pressures that are generated due to the crimp not being able to open fully.

I beg to differ it could be that the powders are different or that the cases are compression formed(cf) instead of plastic tube(pt),or even one is plas wad the other fibre with cards either side not being picky you understand,just giving another viewpoint.
