kev1986
i have just got my gun safe and i am now looking for a safe for my ammo and was wondering what specs does the safe have to be and does it have to be bolted to wall inside the gun safe aswell also do i have to keep my silencer seperate from my ammo or can it be kept with the ammo in seperate safe
sbald
If you do a search this subject has been discussed a few times. Basically there are no specific requirements to keep ammo locked up, but the guidelines do advise it is kept in a locked container I wouldnt bother removing the mod only the bolt. At the end of the day whatever you decide you will need to check it is ok with your F.L.O.
steve_b_wales
Shotgun ammunition does not need to be locked up, although common sense should prevail. Rifle ammo' must be locked away. Mine is kept in two safes that are to the top of my cabinets and also into the wall. They are the digital ones. They were passed as okay when my FEO visited a few years ago. If it's brick or block these will do http://www.screwfix.com/prods/18356/Fixing...ze-14-Pack-of-5 my walls are stone built and a solid fixing can be hard so I had to use resin fixings in oversized holes http://www.screwfix.com/prods/31582/Fixing...-380ml?ts=53555 and http://www.screwfix.com/prods/51408/Fixing...30mm-Pack-of-10 these help spread the load http://www.screwfix.com/prods/18383/Bolts/...P-M8-Pack-of-

al4x
screwfix sell both the fixings and the safe, you only need to keep the ammo in it, bolt mod etc can stay in the cabinet. Though most remove the bolt and keep it separately anyway
Skippy
I've got the yale digital safe from Screwfix. It can fill up pretty quickly depending on how many calibres you have. Its been a good reliable safe and it only needs to be secured to the fabric of the building. There are all sorts of takes on this subject. I have heard of some people using no more nails

Killjoy
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/part...ext%3ESAFES.htm I got this one from argos and its supprisingly sturdy!!! Fixed to the wall via 2 raw bolts (which are supplied with safe), i didnt use the supplied ones which id imagen would be fine, but instead i bored out the pre-drilled holes and fitted some bigger 12mm ones.... Me too and my FEO was more than happy to approve it. The one that I got from Argos came with the fitting Rawbolts and a set of 4 keys. They are dead easy to fit and only require a drill and a spanner. I fitted mine in under 10 minutes without taxing my little brain too much mate!
