  1. HI Archibald,

Having departed this fora for many months, and now seeing an S1 I thought I would login and post again. he main reason I haven't been on here is because I have been building an S2.

You would also love the classic insurance, mine £63PA fully comp 3k miles... Buy it you know you want to.

P.S. its nothing to do with me.

  2. Take off the one that collapses, If it runs ok then there must be a blockage before that.

Id take off the intercooler and pressure wash it out.

Iv known the turbo seals go and fill intercoolers with engine oil but you would have known if it was engine oil in there, they can "run away" Its not pretty

    would that work?

if the maf thinks a set amount of air is going in and you disconnect that hose it wont read true.... i dont know how that ecu would handle that...

  3. Wait till the ####s get wind of this!

Wonder what the insurance firms will make of it???

    :hmm:

I cant see the ####s making any difference, they would register it as an agricultural vehile or buy old fire tenders etc.. I should also think that the insurance companies will see it as they do now for tax exempt vehicles, the old cars wont do many miles, probably wont be out in bad weather and in all likelyhood wont be going that fast. My landy cost the princely sum of 63.50 to insure this yr. and I might just change it for a slightly earlier one to save on the MOT!

classic cars will be gaining in popularity because of rules like this. Its also good for the economy if they arent scrapped as fools like me spend vast sums of money on them to make them road legal...

  4. I think I would have a conversation with the union and the senior management. If this was to be enforced I would suggest that it would have to be written into the contract that there is a manned 24/7 phone line to senior management so this can be approved quickly to ensure your children are not unfairly discriminated against because of their background / upbringing / insert phrase as required.

another question, what does your contract of employment state and which document takes precedence?

Should this happen, I would ensure you call that number at least 50 times a day every day...

  5. regardless of whatever is wrong, its under warranty and I would read the warranty terms very closely. Then argue for all your worth if you need to!

I would also google the hell out of it to find if others have had the same issues....

    good luck

  6. Congratulations! Speaking as someone who got married this month, I can say that your in for endless wedding fayres and annoyance from people trying to sell you overpriced ****...

remember, "marrage" is not a word its a sentence

  7.

Rapier and HVM deployments in and around the M25 represent a very visual deterrent, on top of the less obvious ones posed by the armed police and military options that terrorist planners will know are in place.

Whilst I agree with the rest of your post, I dont think a visual deterrent of you will be killed has any impact on many of them. most of the terrorists realise it is a one way trip when they strap on a bomb of fly aircraft into something. TBH if an airline took off from LHR, or city airport, by the time it was over the games and they had realised what was going on, I doubt they would have time to react...

its all a little too much for me, TBH, its a bit like they are saying the world is soooo dangerous we are going to need missiles to protect you... however after the games, you are once again *****D, carry on...

I am just glad that invading iraq made the world so much safer...:lol:

I for one will not be watching the games, will not be supporting them and will be staying as far from any of it as possible...

  8. try telfast tablets. theyre on prescription but work really well...

medicinal name is phexophenadine (spelt phonetically) and yes I reasise that is probably not how you spell phoneitcally.... :good:

  9. 4x4 yeti are still £10k+ or were when I looked... Mates wife has CR-V 2.0 petrol auto nice car but not economic and has had quite few niggles with it it's her second gear box packed up on the first and was done under warranty and was about to again when it got chopped in £2k+ for an auto box my old man has a swb Rav4 and it's nice had a petrol before now a D4D.

interesting I have a 60 reg CRV 2.2 diesel. personally I hate it. it does between 36 and 45mpg, it is great around town and up to about 60mph after that it becomes noisy and thirsty.

reliability, never been offroad, has done 45k miles, 5 trips into Honda servicing which is frankly appaling, two suspension drop links, parking sensors, various other niggles mostly still not fixed and its booked in yet again to be "repaired". I should add, none of these were for routine servicing

Compared to the VW golf and bmw I have had previously, both were in better mechnical condition after 100k miles than the honda was after 25k.

have you thought about a tax exempt series landy as a second car? insurance is cheap, get one with a 200 tdi engine and it will drive reasonably and still return 30mpg ish.
